Still in love, Burt and Verona are expecting their first child in their early thirties. The six-month pregnancy is interrupted by the news that Burt's parents are moving to Europe, so the couple decides to move somewhere else, where they can wait for the birth of the child closer to their friends. They go on a long trip across America, during which they evaluate all the places they visit with a view to whether they want to raise their child in such an environment, or whether this is what they, currently completely uprooted, imagine under the word home.
