The 2019 LGBT Film Festival will take place between November 23 and December 1, and will be opened by the Brazilian film Greta. It is an important social event, where foreign and domestic filmmakers will try to open many perspectives on the issue of same-sex orientation and otherness through original films.
The festival was organized for the first time in 1984 as part of the Magnus festival and is considered to be the oldest gay and lesbian film festival in Europe. On its 30th anniversary, it was renamed the LGBT Film Festival.
The 35th edition of the LGBT Film Festival will also present cinematographic novelties that concern LGBT-community topics at various venues around the capital and Slovenia. They will host foreign directors of ranked films, as well as participants of the accompanying meeting of LGBT literature from the area of the former Yugoslavia. They will take place in Ljubljana during the festival free film and criticism workshop.
He will open the festival the Brazilian film Greta, which tells the story of a 70-year-old paramedic, Pedro, who helps a hospitalized prisoner, Jean, escape to free up his bed for his transgender friend, Daniela. He hides and treats Jeana at his home, and a tense emotional relationship develops between them.
Two Slovenian films will also be presented at the festival, namely short film Risk and the movie Together.
