Ljubljana in January 2015, she made it to the finals of the selection for the WTTC award "Tourism for Tomorrow 2015", awarded by an international organization World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The winners were announced on April 15 at an awards ceremony held as part of the global meeting in Madrid.

The "Tourism for Tomorrow" awards are given based on the realization of the principles of sustainable tourism and as part of efforts to inspire and educate tourism providers and destinations to improve sustainable tourism practices. The awards are considered the world's highest honors in the field of sustainable trends in the travel and tourism industry.

The categories refer to various sustainability-oriented activities of tourism companies and organizations and cover areas such as destination management, benefits for the wider community, environmental protection, adaptation of work processes and innovation. There are five categories in total, each with three finalists who best adhere to sustainable principles. Ljubljana (otherwise known as the Green Capital of Europe 2016) beat the Northeast and Yilan Coast of Taiwan and Sozopol (Bulgaria) in the race for the prestigious award.

Ljubljana has been a destination for a long time committed to sustainable development, which is also reflected in our sustainable strategy for the development of Ljubljana tourism until 2020. With the closure of the motor transport center, Ljubljana tourism and stakeholders in Ljubljana got a boost for joint economic, environmental and cultural prosperity.
