London is getting the longest roller coaster in the world! It clung to the steel structure like a trunk wrapper ArcelorMittal Orbit, 114.5 meters tall observation tower, which rises above the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and was created in the image of the artist, Sir by Anish Kapoor, and engineer Cecil Balmond (the architectural bureau was otherwise watching over the construction Bblur Architecture). It symbolizes dedication and effort of Olympians and boasts a staircase, elevators and a pair of viewing platforms, but now it's even richer for the longest slide in the world.
This was planned by an out-of-serial artist Carsten Höller, the guru of roller coasters for adults, who has already tackled similar projects in the past (including bringing a roller coaster to the famous London the Tate Modern gallery). The Belgian artist not only strives to transformation of the urban landscape, one of his main goals was to change his attitude towards life. People are convinced that they are slides and slides can only be part of a children's playground and children's games. Why don't they treat themselves to such a lovely pleasure even as adults? Or as he once said: "People who ride a toboggan have a very special expression on their faces. The ride touches them and they are changed in a certain way by it.”
That was in 2006, when he brought the slide for adults to the Tate Modern and when it was just the idea that he would slides for adults replaced the rooms with the various therapists we humans use to reduce stress. Since then, his vision has taken on more and more concrete outlines, and Höller has thus been more than successful in his transformation of not only the urban landscape, but also people.
