Today, two decades later, this iconic collection returns in a renewed form – as “Re-Edition” line, which blends the timeless Louis Vuitton aesthetic with Murakami's vision. To make it even more breathtaking, the collection is represented by fashion icon Zendaya, whose fearless stylistic boldness perfectly embodies the spirit of this unique collection.

The rebirth of an icon

In 2003, Louis Vuitton, under the leadership of Marc Jacobs, collaborated with Takashi Murakami for the first time and presented a collection that turned the fashion world upside down. The colorful reinterpretation of the monogram, cute “chibi” cherries and Murakami’s famous flowers became status symbols for a generation. The Speedy, Alma and Pochette bags in the “Monogram Multicolore” version adorned the hands of the biggest celebrities of the time – from Paris Hilton to Jessica Simpson and Lindsay Lohan.

With the Y2K aesthetic experiencing a real resurgence, it seemed only a matter of time before Louis Vuitton revived this collaboration. And 2025 is clearly the year. The “Re-Edition” collection brings revamped classic designs infused with Murakami’s signature playful symbolism and a fresh, modern twist.

Collection: What does the new interpretation bring?

Murakami's extravagance returns in style. The new collection preserves classic LV silhouettes while adding an explosion of color and signature illustrations. The "Re-Edition" collection includes:

  • Speedy 25, Alma BB, OnTheGo and Keepall – upgraded versions of iconic handbags, dressed in colorful monograms and Murakami floral motifs.
  • Mini Bags and Accessories – Key fashion accessories include matching wallets, key chains and phone cases.
  • Exclusive pieces – for the first time in the history of the collaboration, the collection also includes Murakami's artistic interpretation of an LV skateboard, unisex sneakers and sunglasses.

Zendaya as the face of the campaign

Where and when to buy the collection?

The “Louis Vuitton x Murakami Re-Edition” collection will be available from January 1, 2025 in selected Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide, as well as via their official website. In addition, Louis Vuitton is opening a series of exclusive pop-up stores in fashion capitals including New York, London, Milan, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo.
