Without a doubt, the biggest mistake you can make when it comes to the Maldives is to only decide on them when you are looking for a honeymoon destination. The Maldives is a wonderful haven for all newlyweds, and at the same time perfect for all those who want sun, palm trees and endless sandy beaches, as well as water sports, diving, snorkeling, etc. Among more than 1,200 islands, everyone can choose the one that suits their skin tone.

Maldives is paradise on earth. Don't believe it? So what would you call the 26 coral atolls, of which only a sixth are inhabited, surrounded by white sandy beaches and azure blue sea? They are located in the Indian Ocean, and the closest to them are India and Sri Lanka.

They are considered the lowest country in the world, so leave your hiking boots at home. Therefore, there is no shortage of others activities, both in the water and on land, because the Maldives is far from just a place for lounging. Coral reefs invite divers and snorkelers to swim in the company of sea giants and tropical fish. The Maldives is small and tiny compared to the Caribbean, but because of its abundance, it offers a plethora of beaches where plenty of privacy can be found.

When to the Maldives?

The best time to visit the Maldives is from November to April. The season between December and February is considered the most desirable, as sunshine and pleasant weather are guaranteed. Be careful when doing this, as prices can climb to the heights during Christmas and New Year.

Which island is suitable for me?

With over 200 inhabited islands to choose from, it's really hard to choose. Some believe that the biggest mistake you can make is to visit just one. Most of the resorts are located on independent islands, so it would be a real shame to visit just one. Also pay attention to how far the chosen island is from the main island, Male. Prices on remote islands are more wallet-friendly, as you will also have to shell out quite a bit of money for transportation. There are several options for getting between the islands, including boat, short local flights or seaplane.

It is the main island Little ones, the capital of the Maldives, which is quite urbanized, yet offers plenty of accommodation for honeymooners and families. The good news is that there are beautiful islands just a short drive away from Male, one of them is Baa Atoll, a nature reserve that promises unforgettable diving. It is also not far from Male Biyadhoo, a small island covered with mango and banana trees. It is perfect for water sports lovers, as it offers kayaks in addition to diving and snorkeling. Gourmets, however, should not miss the island Amilla Maldives, one of the largest in the archipelago, known for its excellent culinary offer.

How can I help preserve the environment?

The sustainability factor is an important part of our travels, especially when we are aware of how much damage air transport causes to the planet. The Maldives is an archipelago that will be severely affected by global warming, as even the smallest rise in water could completely flood a large part of the islands. Coral reefs are also heavily populated. In order to take care of endangered flora and fauna again, the largest 3D reef was arranged on Summer Island, and for a small fee you can also contribute to the construction yourself with the latest technologies. The artificial reef consists of ceramic and concrete modules, and the resort would like to grow a new ecosystem on it.
