Mellow Moose Station: When vintage furniture gets another chance

Ajda and Matej are creative 24-year-olds who have been a couple since high school and friends since elementary school. In addition to their mutual love, they also share a love for restoring vintage furniture, which they turned into the creative project Mellow Moose Station.

Buckwheat and Matthew, the creative duo behind the project Mellow Moose Station, are not designers by training. Ajda is a postgraduate student in strategic marketing communication, while Matej is a law graduate. Nevertheless, thanks to their parents, who encouraged and taught them manual skills while growing up, they are skilled at all the necessary skills and tricks that come in handy when renovating old furniture.

Old furniture because they really like the design and quality of production, which we hardly see anymore these days. They are also convinced that every piece of vintage furniture carries its own unique story and even contains its own soul. They try to see the potential in every discarded piece and enjoy when forgotten furniture gets a fresh look and a new opportunity. Most of their furniture is more than three decades old, and they are sure that it will last as long once renovated. The couple, who by refurbishing old furniture contribute to a more sustainable society, jokingly say that Matej is the implementation director, and Ajda is the creative director of always fresh and inspiring projects.

They renovated the first cabinet at the beginning of this year, when they dedicated the happy post-exam period to work in the workshop, where they spent several weekends sanding, plastering, gluing and painting. Since they were more than satisfied with the final product, which they named Kresnička, they decided to repeat the renovation process in the future. By the summer, they had restored enough pieces of furniture to be able to attend An artistically nostalgic fair in Park Tabor, and some pieces of their furniture are also available in a cute shop Babushka Boutique on Gosposvetska street in Ljubljana. They are happy that their pieces are warmly received and are extremely happy that they can continue to weave their story. We can visit the creative couple at the upcoming To the New Year vintage fair in Poligon and check the latest offer, among which we will surely find something for our home.
