Originally a bee farm, Melvita is located in the countryside, not far from the Ardèche gorge nature reserve, bordering Provence and the Cévennes mountains. Until today, it has managed to preserve the quality of the environment that surrounds it.
Melvita's production facility in La Fontaine du Cade in Lagorc covers an area of more than three hectares and blends in completely with the surrounding landscape. The water used in production is heated by solar energy receivers. But they also have a special wastewater treatment system that includes an irrigation system, the kind commonly used to irrigate deserts. It is used to irrigate a plantation of fast-growing Finnish willows, the branches of which are used for weaving baskets.
In 2011, a new ecological construction was completed, which doubled the size and capacity of the production plant.
