Memminger Roadster 2.7 – a modern twist on a romantic convertible

Memminger Roadster 2.7

Claus Memminger was once a successful endurance racing driver at Le Mans. After finishing his career, he did not give up gasoline fumes and instead devoted himself to the restoration of Volkswagen Beetles. It all started in 1998, when he and a friend restored the first Volkswagen Beetle. The latest product, the Memminger Roadster 2.7, was presented just in time for the introduction to summer romance with an open roof.

Memminger Roadster 2.7 it is modern interpretation Volkswagen's Beetle with an added touch of romance in shape open roofs. It drives him 2.7 liter, air-cooled boxer engine with 210 horsepower. It has a 5-speed manual transmission, and the frame is tubular and made of steel. The bodywork has an unmistakable image Beetle, in which we still see a bit Porsche Speedster. The interior remains classic, without navigation or any touch screens. We don't even have handles and door panels available, but we can admire the steel, raw the base of the car. The seats are covered with tartan, which gives a bit of colorful contrast to the interior. You definitely get a feel for it classic days, which are long gone.

The Roadster 2.7 weighs only 800 kilograms and so it's no wonder that it can run over200 km/h. When was the last time you saw a Beetle this fast? The sun's rays and warm weather are perfect for a Roadster trip, and there's probably no greater pleasure than when you the sun caressing the face the wind and whizzes around you. At Memminger, they definitely proved themselves and proved to us once again that romance has not died out and yes 'modern classics' they still exist.
