Men's swimwear 2021 is comfortable, practical, and of course, among all the trends, there are also those that would be attributed mainly to those slightly bolder men.
Men's swimwear for 2021 consists of six key trends: swimwear with a military touch, swimwear with Breton stripes, swimwear in contrasting colors, swimwear with pink prints, swimwear with a matching top and old-school men's swimwear, as worn by James Bond. What will you choose?
A man of action

The military-inspired look has been one of the hottest trends of the last few decades, and this year it will completely take over the beaches. "If you have dry legs, then such a swimsuit is a great choice," says Sarah Gilfillan, personal stylist and founder of menswear brand Sartoria Lab. In terms of length, such swimsuits should be limited to the middle of the thighs, so as not to be associated with skater swimsuits. If a patterned swimsuit is out of your comfort zone, a khaki swimsuit will still have the same effect, and it can also be slightly longer (but never below the knee.

Nautical-inspired swimwear provides a sophisticated look and a Parisian touch. This year, Breton stripes are getting an upgrade: they can be slanted, folded, layered or repainted. In any case, they balance boldness and style as only the French can. "White striped swimwear is one of the biggest menswear trends this season," says Holly Blake, stylist at River Island. "They're easy to pair with a plain t-shirt and flip flops or espadrilles for a relaxed, chic look that goes from day to night." The stripes will also do wonders for your body. If you're petite, horizontal stripes will add a bit of width, but if you're a bit stockier, vertical stripes will elongate your body.
Matching swimwear

One of the biggest trends for men's swimwear in 2021 is "coordinated clothing", consisting of shorts and a short-sleeved shirt in the same color or print. "When wearing the ensemble, choose colors that match your skin tone," says FashionBeans Deputy Editor Luke Todd. When you come back from vacation, try to make the most of both jobs. Wear the set, break it up with a white tee to tone down the Club Tropicana vibes, or pair the shirt with chinos for subtle reminders of your vacation.
A game of color contrasts

"Make sure you choose shades that suit you and compliment your skin tone," says celebrity stylist Alex Longmore. "Avoid black at all costs, it just doesn't work in the sun and can look merciless with so much exposed skin." If you have fairer skin, opt for dark green, burgundy or navy shades. If you have darker skin, opt for something more vibrant. Shades of cobalt blue, lime green and sunny yellow will help you stand out.
The power of flowers

Pink printed shirts worn under a summer dress add a sense of relaxation and fun to an otherwise staid look. The same can be said when you're (almost) in Adam's place. "For the most flattering look, adjust the size of the flowers according to your figure: if you are smaller, choose a smaller print, if you are stronger, you can choose a larger print," says Gilfillan. Hawaiian prints and tropical foliage are perfect for Instagram. If you have a paler complexion, look for something with a dark background so you don't look "washed out". Similarly, those with a darker complexion should opt for a light background to increase contrast and stand out.
Old school

The appeal of retro sportswear is more present than ever, and now it's the turn of the nostalgic swimwear trend. For 2021, designers have taken the old-school edge and updated it to avoid the old gym teacher look. "You have to take care of the whole look, so try wearing them with retro sunglasses," says Longmore. “Look up James Bond for reference.” Retro-inspired swimsuits are most often A-line, with wider pant legs to maintain a vintage silhouette. Although it is a flattering cut that will make you look proportional (especially if you are stronger in the upper body), it leaves a lot of room for "waving". So make sure you don't show those in front of you everything you're hiding under your swimsuit on the beach. 🙂
