The "weakest" four-door coupe of the Mercedes-Benz brand has been introduced to Europe. The Mercedes-AMG GT 43 may indeed have the least horsepower on paper, but it's far from being a tame and toothless beast. It's still an AMG and it still packs a fair bite.
Some time ago, we already met the Mercedes four-door coupes with the designations GT 53, GT 63 and GT 63S. These have now been joined by the youngest and we could also say the 'smallest' Mercedes-AMG GT 43 4MATIC+ 4-door Coupé. At his first pictures, the first thing that caught our eyes were the monoblock rims with a retro touch. The same takes care of the AMG GT 43 drive 3 liter turbine row 6-cylinder, which is found in its more powerful brother, the GT 53. Of course, with less power, but still enough for most buyers.
The GT 53 model has 435 horsepower and 520 newton meters of torque, the latest four-door coupe AMG GT 43 but has 'merely' 367 horsepower and 500 newton meters of torque. The 'lack' of 68 horsepower is noticeable when sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h , where GT 43 is for 4 tenths of a second slower than GT 53. GT 43 needs to sprint 4.9 seconds, but it also has a lower final velocity, which is lower than 15 km/h and amounts to 270 km/h. Although the GT 43 has less horsepower, it pays off in the peak power available at lower plants as in the GT 53 model.
Both cars share 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, a 9-speed automatic transmission and EQ Boost, which for a few moments adds more 22 horsepower and 250 newton meters of torque. The entry-level Mercedes-AMG GT 43 Four-Door Coupe is on German market available from 95,259 euros further.
