The moment has come when the latest generation Mercedes-Benz CLS also hit Slovenian roads. The sleek four-door coupe has a more aggressive look than the rest of the coupes in the fleet of these prestigious beauties and features technology found in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
At first glance, it is Mercedes-Benz CLS so impressive that you will definitely remember it. It competes with the Audi A7, BMW 6 Gran Coupe and even the Porsche Panamera, all of which are quite a lot niche representatives of their brands. Until now, it has found its buyer all over the world 375.000 CLSs, of which 151 are in Slovenia. You will recognize the newcomer by the so-called shark the front part, the distinctive engine cover and 'diamond' front masks with chrome inserts.
The new generation of Mercedes-Benz CLS differs from its predecessor not only in a noticeably changed design, but also in several other details. MULTIBEAM LED headlights they are the latest generation and with the use of the ULTRA BEAM high beam they shine brightly 650 meters far away. And even otherwise, all other safety technology is identical to that found in the sedan version Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Compared to its predecessor, the new CLS is for 51 mm longer and has for 65 mm longer wheelbase. As a result, passengers have more legroom inside and for the first time in the history of the CLS five seats instead of four.
The interior is refined, as befits the Mercedes-Benz brand. With the CLS, for the first time, we can observe how the ambient light around the air vents changes from red to blue, depending on the temperature we have set on the air conditioner. And even otherwise, these same slits can shine to us in any of them 64 colors of ambient lighting.
Among the engines, the biggest innovation is that the 6-cylinder V engine has gone bye-bye. It was replaced by a diesel 6-cylinder in-line engine, which is found in the CLS 350 d 4MATIC and has 286 horsepower, and in the CLS 400 d 4MATIC 340 horsepower. The CLS 450 4MATIC is a gasoline inline 6-cylinder engine that has 48-volt of the electrical system and the ISG electrical device as a kind of mini-hybrid added another 22 horsepower. Its power without the electric part is 367 horsepower, and the total 389 horsepower. The most powerful CLS 53 AMG 4MATIC+ has a gasoline 6-cylinder engine with common 457 horsepower. The entry-level Mercedes-Benz CLS 350 d costs 78,930 euros, and the petrol CLS 450 84,230 euros. The price for the CLS 53 AMG will be announced in May. CLSs have four-wheel drive 4MATIC and 9-speed automatic transmission G-TRONIC, the only exception is the CLS 53 AMG, which has four-wheel drive 4MATIC+ and the sporty automatic transmission AMG SPEEDSHIFT.
