After six years and more than one million units sold, the time has come for a new generation of Mercedes' compact crossover. With the second generation, the Mercedes-Benz GLA brings a greater number of changes that are not purely cosmetic.
For Mercedes-Benz GLA we could quickly say that it is a renovation, but that would be kicking in the dark. A few design cues may be the same, but in the end it's still a lot different a car. A bigger difference can already be seen in the dimensions, where the new GLA is for 14 mm shorter, for 30 mm wider and for what 104 mm higher. Despite the shorter length, the wheelbase is increased, which will be most noticed by passengers in the back seats, as they will receive more space like until now. Entry model GLA 200 will drive 1.33 liter gasoline engine with 163 (120 kW) horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The interior is digitized and follows the trend we have already encountered with the others newer Mercedes-Benz models.
In addition to the already mentioned engine, there will be two more available diesel engine and pluggable hybrid. I can expect the same range of engines as Mercedes-Benz models A and B. The most toxic version, GLA 35 4MATIC AMG will drive 2.0 liter gasoline engine with 306 (225 kW) horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The new GLA will be available already the future spring.
