There will be joy in Ptuj, as the Mildreds, a group of musicians from Croatia and Slovenia, are coming to visit. The band came together with the intention of playing popular and less popular songs, covers and originals from different musical genres. The red thread of their compositions is shown in the band's characteristic sound and in their minimalistic arrangements. Mildreds, as the band members like to joke, are afternoon tea itchy, tweed-clad ladies: singer Astrid Kuljanić, guitarist Uroš Rakovec, drummer Kruno Levačić, percussionist and clarinetist Blaž Celarec and bassist Žiga Golob. The Mildreds' first album, Brisači dušti, brings eleven arrangements of old, Croatian and evergreen songs. Two years later, the group released an album with original compositions entitled Život u ushima. It is best to hear them live, as their repertoire also includes pop compositions by authors such as: Sting, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Elton John, ..., some jazz standards, older Croatian songs and, of course, indispensable original compositions.
