Mitsubishi Colt (2024): unique tweaks, but a very familiar car

The latest Mitsubishi Colt (2024) shares its platform with the facelifted Renault Clio. At first glance, the two cars are really similar, but Mitsubishi made certain adjustments to give the Colt its distinct character.

Mitsubishi Colt (2024) it's based on the recently facelifted Renault Clio, and there's just a bit between them aesthetic difference. The radiator grille, bumpers and lights have received minor revisions, and subtle changes add to Colt's new identities. The interior of the new Colt is very similar to that of the Renault Clio, with minor differences such as the logo on the steering wheel and the absence of the French flag on the dashboard. Still, Mitsubishi incorporated its own technological improvements. Depending on the trim level Colt offers 7-inch or upgraded 9.3-inch an infotainment screen with features like wireless charging, a nine-speaker Bose sound system with a subwoofer, and various connectivity options. The driver can choose between 7-inch or greater 10-inch driver's instrument panel.

Mitsubishi offers a range of powertrain options for the new Colt, the only ones coming from the Renault Clio and Dacia Sandero. The basic version has atmospheric 1.0 liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with 66 horsepower and 95 newton meters of torque. Choice 1.0 liter engine with turbine charger increases power to 90 horsepower and 160 newton meters of torque. The best version is equipped with atmospheric 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain, which provides the total power 141 horsepower. The internal combustion engine provides 148 newton meters torque, and the electric motor contributes additional 205 newton meters. The hybrid model also offers the best fuel economy and faster acceleration, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds.

The safety features of the new Colt are similar to those found in the Renault Clio. Buyers can expect options such as a heated steering wheel, bi-LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, heated mirrors and comprehensive a set of safety equipment. Mitsubishi ensures that the Colt remains competitive in terms of safety and comfort, making it a rational choice in the subcompact hatchback segment.
Renault is expected to start production of the Mitsubishi Colt in September, and the market launch is planned this year in autumn.
