We live in the age of social media. We basically live in social media. If we don't have a profile on at least one of them, we don't actually exist or we live behind nine mountains and waters. With smartphones, we can take great photos and use them to immortalize more or less important events several times a day, which we carefully "filter" before releasing them to the world. Daniel Wilson and Martin Adolfsson came up with the idea that it might be better to step out of the world of perfect and carefully planned photos and show themselves in a more realistic light.
Minutiae is the antithesis of the most popular applications of the moment. Its mission is, if you like, "to be an 'anti-social-media' application, with which you catch usually undocumented events in the lens". And what is the principle? Once a day there will be you Minutiae warnings that it is time for photo. Wherever you are and whatever you're going to do, you will only have available 5 seconds. And what if you don't have anything ready? The phone will still take the 'photo'. So the idea is to take photos on appearance unimportant events, which are actually just as important as the ones we otherwise publish on our profiles. So you will after 1440 days to be exact 24 hours immortalized events. And what Minutiae what else does it bring or, rather, what doesn't it bring? Your profile, likes and comments.
For a better understanding, let's read another part from their manifesto:
"Social media is supposed to help you stay in touch with friends and acquaintances, but all it actually asks and gets from you is time. And data. Minutiae will free you from this!"
