The exhibition presents the results of the German-Croatian-Slovenian excavations of the Bronze Age settlement of Monkodonja and the associated necropolis with stone mounds on the nearby Mušego hill in the hinterland of Rovinj.
Research lasting more than a decade (1997-2008) revealed a fortified high-altitude settlement with the beginnings of an urban design of the Eastern Mediterranean type - Monkodonja, which is one of the largest and currently the best-studied. The research also extended to the nearby Mušego hill - the necropolis, where the elite of the Monkodonje high class were buried in stone mounds.
The Monkodonja research and especially the presentation of the former settlement on the ground are among the best not only in the territory of Croatia, but also in the wider area of this part of Central Europe, so it is right that the Slovenian public also learns more about it.
