Selfies have recently established themselves as the most popular type of photo. It's even gotten so far that some people are willing to risk their lives in the pursuit of an enviable shot.
Indian scientists are based on their own research came to the conclusion that the number of deaths due to the creation of selfies is increasing every year.
Med October 2011 and November 2017 were recorded as 259 deaths, related to selfies. The victims were involved in 137 accidents.
Much more alarming than the total number of deaths during this period, however an increasing trend in deaths from year to year. That's how the media is in the year 2011 reported only 3 such deaths while selfies were years 2016 fatal for 98 people. For comparison, we can state that it is in the year 2017 only 5 people lost their lives because of shark attack.
The researchers also found that the majority of those who died were male gender. The average age of the victims is 23 years. Most accidents occurred in to India, Russia, USA and Pakistan. Among the causes of death, it was at the top of the list drowning.
Perhaps you have already wondered how to curb the number of deaths due to selfies? The authors of the research suggest that it should be introduced in dangerous tourist areas special zones that would prohibit taking selfies.
