The most peaceful countries in the world

According to the Global Peace Index, the safest countries in the world are Iceland, Denmark and New Zealand. Slovenia is in thirteenth place.

Global Peace Index (GPI) or Global Peace Index is the world's leading "meter" of peace in individual countries. The survey measures "peace" in 162 countries namely according to 22 different ones qualitative and quantitative indicators (such as the level of crime, the number of police officers per hundred thousand inhabitants, the level of organized crime, the percentage of GDP allocated to the army...)

June 2013 the seventh edition of the analysis was published, and the Global Peace Index 2013 shows that the world became more restless in 2013 - since 2008, "calmness" decreased by 8%. The most peaceful continent is Europe, in which it is 13 from total 20 the most peaceful countries in the world. The three most peaceful countries are Iceland, New Zealand and Denmark. They are the least calm Afghanistan, Somalia and Syria. Slovenia is in "peace" on thirteenth place, Austria in fourth place, and Italy only in 34th place.
