Two-time Oscar winner Emma Thompson and charming Pierce Brosnan star together for the first time in the extremely funny comedy Love Strike. Richard (played by Pierce Brosnan), a divorced middle-aged businessman, is looking forward to his retirement and the start of a quiet and carefree life. But on his last day at work, he gets an unpleasant surprise when he learns that he is the victim of a scam and that all the money from his pension fund is gone. With the help of his ex-wife Kate (Emma Thompson), he goes into battle with fraudsters for his stolen money.
Finally in retirement! Richard Jones (Pierce Brosnan), a divorced middle-aged entrepreneur is already looking forward to a carefree life when he arrives at work on his last day. But he discovers that the buyout of his company was a scam; the company is now bankrupt and all the funds - including his - in their pension fund have been embezzled. Together with ex-wife Kate (Emma Thompson) goes on the hunt for Vincent Kruger, the suspicious businessman behind the whole thing. And before they know it, they find themselves in a cat-and-mouse game across Europe - with a whirlwind of intrigue, crazy chases and jewelry theft among them - during which love is rekindled between them.
Five years after the international success of the comedy Last Chance, Harvey is a screenwriter and director Joel Hopkins wanted to work with again Emma Thompson; she was immediately fascinated by the story of a couple separated for eight years who embark on a journey as wild as a death train, and she proposed as a co-star Pierce Brosnan. The majority of the film was shot in Paris and the French Riviera - and entirely in France, adding to it a timeless, classically romantic French charm.
