The story of the film takes place on Japan, where the dogs are put on an isolated island and foregrounds a boy looking for his dog. Wes Anderson is considered one of the most recognized American directors and he has worked with many throughout his career renowned actors. Some of them will join forces with the director this time as well, as the cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Liev Schreiber, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, Greta Gerwig, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand and many others.
Unlike Pixar's films, Anderson's animated film will use the older ti animation technique stop-motion, which we last saw in the film Kubo and two strings (Kubo and the Two Strings, 2016).
