The Slovenian film Rudar is a story about a simple miner who risked everything to do what was right and thus revealed one of the most terrifying secrets of Slovenian post-war history.
Bosnian immigrant Mehmedalija Alić, originally from Srebrenica, has been working for many years in the Zasava mine, which is now for sale. The management lays off workers and closes inactive tunnels, and entrusts Alija with an unusual task: she must investigate tunnel, which has been closed since the end of the Second World War, and to write a report as soon as possible that there is nothing in it.
Alia soon encounters a wall in an abandoned tunnel. The director of the mine makes it clear to him that he expects a report that the tunnel is empty, but Alijah is disturbed by rumors from the surrounding residents that they are buried in the tunnel victims of post-war purges. Determined to get to the truth regardless of the consequences, he continues his work. Z historical demons he has no personal connection to this land, but once upon a time, in some other hellish abyss of the former common homeland, he himself lost his loved ones, and to this day he has not found them...
