Two animations for the price of one. Both, which were taken as their own by both viewers and critics around the world. Both with a Slovenian touch. One through dubbing, the other entirely the result of domestic production. We are talking about The Boxers (from Laika-Carolina, ParaNorman) and Koyaa Roža, a prequel that is returning from a tour of more than 25 international short film festivals. If that doesn't make you interested in going to the movies, then we don't know what will.
Boxers is a dubbed animated adventure about the kingdom of the same name evil monsters, who dwell under the cobblestones of the Victorian city Blindness, famous for his obsession with smelly but prestigious cheeses, wealth and social status. Legend has it that the Boxers, who climb to the surface through the shafts at night, they steal children and cheese. But the truth is far from that. But we know how the truth is sometimes hard to sell and "monsters" are a convenient excuse for problems and prejudices.
The company of charming and kind-hearted creatures dressed in cardboard boxes (reminiscent of children who dress up as a robot for carnival) that serve as their armor is so completely the opposite of people's ideas. If they were what the legend was selling, it wouldn't go over well Egg (voice of Rok Mlinar) - but not to the jumper Jerne Damjan - who adopted their way of life. But the debt collector is not interested in the truth Alojzija Grabež (Jernej Kuntner), who wants to exterminate them. Before that, only Jajc' and can save them Vini, the mayor's daughter (Lija Pečnikar). Yes, it's not like that anywhere as from the box(es)., not even in Sirmost, although he initially wants to create such an appearance.

Even before Skatlarji, we have a short one waiting for us puppet animated film (production of the Ljubljana institute ZVVIKS) directed Kolje Sakside, which is the first Slovenian film made in stereoscopic technicians and thus suitable for 3D cinemas and televisions.
After the festival tour, this animation is now in stop-motion method (picture by picture), which was created for almost two years by 40 people, also made its way to domestic cinemas, where it is presented to us on the screens "dry southern" little man Koyaa (and his friend Raven) around which all objects come to life and take on unusual behaviors. Thus, e.g. turns innocent gardening into a battle with a flesh-eating monster.
