Europe got the first underwater museum! The Museo Atlántico is located in the Canary Islands, specifically off the southern coast of Lanzarote, and visitors can explore it while diving or through the glass bottoms of ships.
The first underwater museum in Europe opened on January 10 this year at Canary Islands, on the south coast of the island of Lanzarote, at Bahía de Las Coloradas. Museo Atlántico was created by a British eco couple Jason deCaires Taylor and consists of life-size sculptures made of pH-neutral materials, which are suitable for coexistence with marine life. The underwater museum is located 14 meters underwater, and visitors can explore it during diving or through glass bottoms of ships. It is suitable for families, but of course there are certain age and health restrictions.
