The Department of Urban Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Museum of Recent History of Celje, in cooperation with the Historical Society of Celje, is organizing, between July 7 and 12, 2013, a museum research camp entitled "URBAN PHENOMENA-MUSEUM PERSPECTIVES/CE7 Museum of Memory".
The workshop will be based on field work with different work methods. Depending on the interest of the participants, groups will be formed to investigate the impact of the museum on the environment and the environment on the museum. How the individual contents and mission of the museum influence and co-shape the environment and collective thought and how the environment and collective thought influence the contents and mission of the museum. In short, we will be interested in the collective memory, the influence of various media (exhibition, internet, newspaper...) and the social engagement of the people of Celje. The work will include research into archival sources and research into current relations between the museum and its surroundings. We will use the afternoons to socialize and get to know Celje and its surroundings and try out all its cultural, sports, concert and picnic facilities.
Participants will be accommodated in the attractive MCC Hostel, which won the award for the best hostel in Slovenia. The hostel is special for its interior arrangement, which was conceived and executed by artists.
The number of participants is limited to 15 students. The application deadline is until the places are filled.
The registration fee for the workshop is EUR 60 and includes professional guidance, accommodation in the MCC Youth Hostel, three meals a day, entrance fees for all afternoon animations and transport, and technical material.
