National Geographic: A unicorn from the fairytale forests of Slovenia

Our Slovenia was also mentioned in the National Geographic magazine these days. We are supposed to find a real unicorn in our fairy-tale forests.

At the magazine National Geographic published an article about the Slovenian "unicorn", a deer that lived with only one horn. He lived because, unfortunately, the "unicorn" is no longer among the living, as hunters discovered the fairy-tale deformity on the deer's skull only after the animal was shot. The authenticity of the horn was confirmed for the magazine by a Slovenian game expert, dr. Boštjan Pokorny. Pokorny assured the authenticity of the photo and refuted any suspicions that its editing involved manipulation. The deer is said to be normally developed, only the antlers are said to have grown together after an injury to the head or skull during the early growth period.
