The new Audi A6 joins the recently rejuvenated Audi A7 and Audi A8. The six is a serious renovation and a completely new generation. As we all know very well, the Audi A6 has always been synonymous with the car model that has aged most charmingly in the top class. This is also why the new generation brings a lot of new things to the road.
A new generation Audi A6 does not differ much from the previous one at first glance, but if you are among the more attentive observers, you will definitely notice the huge differences. New Audi A6 (2018) has grown somewhat, in length for 7 mm, width 12 mm and 2 mm in height. The most prominent part of the new A6 is a front mask that closely resembles the one at to the A7 model. From the side profile, the uninitiated will hardly notice any significant differences, but the connoisseur will not miss the strongly accentuated line that winds over the front and all the way to the rear wheels. The differences at the rear are more noticeable, as we have a newly designed trunk lid and chrome strip, which winds across the entire width of the car. New Audi A6 will be available in 14 color shades, among which is 7 brand new. And with this, it also gets that real playfulness and the possibility of personalization.
If the exterior is quite similar to its predecessor (which is by no means a bad thing), the same certainly cannot be said for the interior. They are as similar as night and day, as the new generation is significantly more digitized. To begin with, we have 10.1-inch MMI-screen, which is intended for the entertainment-information system and we have already seen it at Audi A7. Below it is a second screen, measuring 8.6 inches, through which we control the air conditioning and other useful functions. The driver's field of vision has also been digitized, so you can find yourself behind the wheel 12.3 inch screen with all gauges, navigation and other information. The space for shoulders and heads has also increased, and we will find a few liters more space in the trunk.
With digitization and new MMI navigation it is the new Audi A6 got a bunch of new features. Navigation learns itself and can recommend better or alternative routes. Assistance systems use up to 5 radar sensors, 5 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a laser reader for parking assistant needs. They are available like this Parking Pilot like Garage Pilot, which can drive automatically Audi A6 from or to the garage or parking space without the driver having to be in the car. The upgraded chassis received many aluminum components, which makes the ride even sportier, but still nimble.
At the presentation of the new Audi A6 the range of engines consists of a diesel engine with the designation 2.0, which transmits to the road 201 horses, but the diesel department is joined by two more 6-cylinder diesel with the designation 3.0 with po 228 and 286 horsepower. Of course, it complements the engine range 3-liter V6 gasoline engine with 335 horsepower. At Audi, the bosses also announce a petrol version 2 liter petrol engine, who will join the cavalry towards the end of the year. Some Audi A6 models will have a mini-hybrid system that allows them to drive without the engine running 55 and 160 km/h. At the same time, this system also works as a start/stop function, at speeds lower than 22 km/h. This is also why the new Audi A6 has not lost a single gram, but all at the expense of new technologies. Quattro four-wheel drive is standard on all versions of the Audi A6, which represents a real bit of a revolution in this business segment and shows Audi's direction in the future - also in the driving dynamics segment.
We will be able to see the new Audi A6 on Slovenian roads as early as this autumn.
