The new BMW 5 Series presents itself in a sporty, elegant and sophisticated light. Sophisticated dynamics, an unrivaled multitude of assistance systems, an unbeatable level of connectivity and an innovative management system are the trump cards on which the seventh generation of the 5 Series bets.
The new BMW 5 Series has what it takes to fill the place vacated by its predecessors, as it was sold worldwide in its first six generations more than 7.6 million BMW 5 Series vehicles! 4.9 meter BMW 5 series seventh generation shows the way to the future. It is co-designed in accordance with the strategy Number One > Next. The BMW 5 Series continues the epitome of a business sedan.
At the expense of BMW's lightweight design concept EfficientLightweight with increased use of aluminum and high-strength steels, the new BMW 5 Series shed 100 kilograms compared to its predecessor. To this end, it is equipped as standard with a stereo camera that connects to additional radar and ultrasonic sensors to monitor the area around the vehicle. Among the new equipment in the BMW 5 Series are, in addition to the avoidance assistance and cross-traffic warnings lane change assistant and lane keeping assistant with active side impact protection. The new BMW 5 Series has taken a new step towards automated driving with expanded functions for the additional cruise control (ACC) and steering assist as well as lane keeping. These include acceptance of speed limits, which the additional intelligent speed limit assistant communicates to the speed control assistant (the driver can adjust the value to the speed +/- 15 km/h). From idle to 210 km/h the vehicle can optionally perform tasks such as acceleration, braking and steering in place of the driver. Intelligent function Auto Start Stop from now on, it adapts its reactions according to the route and traffic conditions, thus offering even greater driving comfort.
For an even bigger one user friendliness the new BMW 5 Series is equipped with the latest generation of control iDrive. On 10.25-inch screen displays navigation, telephone and entertainment information and other vehicle functionalities. The system can optionally be operated with gestures, via the iDrive controller or by touching the screen. Color projector BMW Head-Up has a surface of projection which is 70 percent higher as before and projects traffic signs, phone books, radio stations, track titles, navigation instructions and assistance system warnings.
They are available to maximize the level of comfort in the vehicle extended landfill options, more legroom in the back and comfortable seats with a massage function, not to mention the innovative seat control via touch sensors and four-zone automatic air conditioners, which are supplemented with ionization and pleasant air fresheners. Special SYNTAK motor insulation technology (Synergy Thermoacoustic Capsule), the acoustic glazing of the windshield and the acoustically refined ceiling lining bring a significant reducing the noise level inside the vehicle. All headlights in the BMW 5 Series Limousine are equipped with LED technology as standard. Additionally available adaptive LED headlights with variable light distribution include adaptive lights for driving in a roundabout and BMW Selective Beam with a non-blinding high beam with a range up to 500 meters.
All BMW 5 Series engines belong to the refurbished modular family of drive units within BMW EfficientDynamics. BMW TwinPower Turbo technology gives all members of the family excellent performance combined with exceptional efficiency. They will be available when they hit the market two diesel and two gasoline engines, which operate in tandem with either rear-wheel drive or the intelligent BMW xDrive four-wheel drive system.
Nov 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder engine in BMW 530i develops a maximum torque of 350 Nm and a maximum power of 185 kW/252 hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 250 km/h. The most powerful drive unit will boast a power of 250 kW/340 hp and will be under the hood of the new BMW 540i. This one 3.0 liter straight six develops 450 Nm of torque. With xDrive, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. 4-cylinder diesel engine in BMW 520d develops 140 kW/190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. You can choose between a manual transmission or an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds (Steptronic). The maximum speed is 237 km/h. New ones too BMW 530d it has excellent dynamics and is very efficient. In-line 6-cylinder engine develops 195 kW/265 hp and a maximum torque of 620 Nm, which means that the BMW 530d is significantly more powerful than the comparable previous model. It is also 13 percent more economical than its predecessor. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, while its speed is limited at 250 km/h. Shortly after the arrival of the new BMW 5 Series Limousine, BMW will add three more engine variants to its range. It is also coming in March 2017 BMW 5 Series with plug-in hybrid drive system, that is BMW 530e iPerformance. Also, then the time will come for the arrival of the sporting highlight of the new 5 series. Namely, it will be presented BMW M550i xDrive.
