Want the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe but can't afford it? Don't worry, there's a "budget" version: the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
At BMW have decided to follow the trend of Mercedes and present a design special. New ones BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is actually an extension of the 1 Series M235i Gran Coupe (currently the best and fastest model), powered by turbo engine with 302 hp, which it shares with the M135i. It also shares front-wheel drive with the 1 Series, which has not been a practice at BMW until now.
In addition to the 300 horsepower gasoline unit, there is also an engine available 220 d diesel, which is said to have the lowest carbon dioxide emissions in the group, and the engine from the Mini. He also borrowed a motorcycle with a tag 218i, which should allow the 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with 136 horsepower, combined with the car's excellent aerodynamics, to consume only 5.7 liters per 100 km. There is also a choice of two, seven or eight-speed automatic transmissions steptronic, and a six-speed manual transmission.
Prices start at 31,000 euros for 218i, and 43,300 euros for the M235i. But this is where the fun just begins. Namely, all accessories, including packages, are extremely expensive. So it will not be unusual if the 2 Series Gran Coupe with only a few accessories will be more expensive than 50,000 euros, which is absolutely absurd for this car class!
Maybe we could highlight the spaciousness and suitability for those with a little more "baggage" in life. The volume of the trunk is s 450 liters rather luxurious for this class.
The main competitors BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe they are Audi A3 sedan and Mercedes-Benz CLA. Also, the more powerful M235i xDrive will compete against the Audi S3 and Mercedes AMG CLA 35.
