The segment of medium MPVs is hot, as it has not been for a long time. Especially since the never-before-seen BMW recently entered the segment, which will also offer buyers a seven-seater version of the 2 series active tourer in the summer. The Gran Tourer, to which the name refers, is longer than its smaller brother by more than 20 cm, most of which goes to the spaciousness of the second and, for the first time, the third row of seats. It also got a trunk measuring from 605 to 1,905 liters in volume.
In terms of design, the two models are understandably quite similar, with the difference that grand tourer expected slightly stretched in length and height. The meter for the gran tourer thus shows 4,556 meters in length and 1.8 and 1.61 meters in width and height, which 214 mm longer and 53 mm higher from the model from which it is derived. In addition, the wheelbase has gained 110 mm in length in order to accommodate two additional seats in the back.
Just like on the outside, the interior of the gran tourer is like a kind of identical twin of the 2 series active tourer, as the driver's workspace and dashboard literally the same. The only measurable or better said difference is the headroom, where in the gran tourer it is slightly more airy upwards, which will be appreciated especially by taller people. Bigger differences occur when moving to the second row, where the GT series 2 got more 130 mm longitudinally movable seat bench or rather seats, with which users can allocate space to passengers or luggage based on preferences.

In favor of family use, just like its sister active tourer, it has many useful drawers and storage spaces, as well as the option tables with backrests first seats and also movable curtains - curtains in the second and third row of seats.
In addition to the platform and front-wheel drive, the bigger brother also borrows a range of engines, transmissions and options from the previously mentioned series2 active tourer xDrive four-wheel drive, which will be available here from the very beginning of the market path. The equipment packages are as follows: advantage, sport line, luxury line and M sport, the list of extras is similarly long (if not even longer), where we also find most of the advanced technology and comfort accessories known today. In Europe, the 2 Series GT will be available with one of six turbodiesel and turbopetrol engines, starting with 1.5-liter three-cylinder on both poles. As mentioned in the introduction, the 2 Series GT will premiere next month at the Geneva Motor Show, and it should also arrive in (our) showrooms sometime in June.
