The exhibition 'Nova F, trends in Slovenian photography' is a project that has been ongoing since 1975 and aims to review the latest achievements in the field of contemporary photographic art. This time, it will take place in three parts in Maribor's Stolp Photo Gallery, within the framework of EPK Maribor 2012.
The authors of the first exhibited set 'About photography' put the theory of photography, sight and vision in the foreground and the importance of the phenomenon of photography as a media and artistic image. Participants: Aleksandra Vajd and Hynek Alt, Bojan Radovič and Andraž Beguš.
As the curator Vasja Nagy also wrote: "The photographic image is not only present in our society every day, but has become the most common and strongest means of communication. The hyperproduction made possible by the development of technologies did not lead to a better understanding of the medium, but primarily to the inflation of critical consideration when using photographic means and the consumption of photographic images. Virtual realism gives the medium an incredible power to manipulate gaze and memory and the perception of reality, whether it is a private album, a media image or a work of art. The installation entitled About photography in the Stolp photo gallery offers a confrontation with several possible approaches that lead to an awareness of what lies beneath the attractive surface of a photographic image.'
You are welcome!
The STOLP photo gallery is open from Tuesday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays, Sundays and holidays.
