The new H&M Studio Essentials collection proves that "basic" doesn't have to mean boring. This September, a new line is coming that shamelessly redefines wardrobe classics - with edginess, style and a real dose of fashion rebellion.
H&M is re-launching with a new fashion mission – and not just any one. With the line H&M Studio Essentials is launching a collection of wardrobe essentials that are anything but basic. First unveiled on September 4th, the collection delivers what fashion enthusiasts are most looking for: sustainably designed classics with the distinctive H&M Studio stamp – so when the blazer is not just a blazer, but almost a work of art with shoulders that even an architectural firm would envy.
The collection will be available twice a year – as a stylish addition to the main H&M Studio seasonal range. And no, these are not the basics that end up at the bottom of your drawer. These pieces are here to shine – A leather jacket with sharp shoulders? A true wardrobe drama queen.
H&M Studio Essentials: When “basics” stop being basic
The Essentials line was born from – surprisingly – listening to customers. The designers asked themselves: “What are the pieces that people keep looking for?” And the answer was clear – blazer, white shirt, jeans, comfortable sweater. But this time in a version that even a Scandinavian fashion magazine editor would be happy to wear. Or your Instagram stylist who always knows where to find the best cut of pants that magically make your legs look longer.
The fall-winter 2025 collection focuses on the strength of the silhouette and comfort - which in fashion terms means: bigger shoulders, more structured cuts, softer materials. In the foreground are coats, jackets, leather jackets and knitted sweaters that we would gladly steal from a man's wardrobe. And then there are timeless straight-cut jeans and trousers that are not complicated at all - they just look good.
Wearable, but never boring
"H&M Studio Essentials is about what we really need in our wardrobe – a blazer, a leather jacket, an oversized shirt, jeans – but all designed thoughtfully, with a designer twist,” he says Shena Nordeus, designer at H&M Studio. “The shoulders are straight, the hems are long, the seams are accentuated. Everything is extremely wearable, but has character."
And indeed, Essentials are not here to stay in the background. They are statement without too much effort, are those pieces you put on when you don't want to think, but still look like you came straight from fashion week in Paris.
