The Nutcracker ballet to the music of a Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and directed and choreographed by the Hungarian artist Youri Vamos, since its premiere in 2002 in the Ljubljana Opera House, it has experienced already more than 60 repetitions, which impress again and again. The story of The Nutcracker is based on the timeless work of Charles Dickens, A Christmas story, and is about a bitter miser who hates Christmas. The dream shows him what wrongs he has done to others during his life, so he repents and becomes loving and generous.
Ballerinas and musicians are a combination of us with a magical snowy scene and fairy-tale costumes they take us into an atmosphere of childlike expectation, when even adults get involved in the time when we still believed in fairy tales, which sounds like the best way to spend the last evening of this year. But if we have for New Year's Eve something else is already in the plans, we can watch the ballet fairy tale during the whole of December.
