New Year's Eve performances 2016 - New Year's Eve in the theater:
Anna Karenina
Jovanović's stage adaptation of Tolstoy's famous novel Anna Karenina from 1878 largely preserves the complex novelistic story, but nevertheless creates a drama on stage that sounds extremely modern. The story of a great uncontrollable love that collides with many external as well as some internal obstacles is a story about an individual and a society in which there is no place for those who do not follow the rules. The love that bursts into the life of the refined noblewoman, wife and mother of Anna Karenina, is too big for society and its double standards, for its rigid (even unwritten) laws, for its narrow-mindedness and unforgiveness.

A bat
The story of intrigues, disguises, sudden twists and turns in luxurious costumes, called The Bat, is an operetta gem, the famous masterpiece of the 'Waltz King' Johann Strauss Jr., which has been performed thousands of times all over the world to date, and there is probably no opera stage. in which this operetta would not show in all its splendor the cheerfulness of the Viennese bourgeoisie of the time. After many years, Zvone Šedlbauer, a renowned Slovenian director, who, in addition to directing in all Slovenian theaters, has also devoted part of his career to the art of opera, has signed on to direct.

Turandot
Puccini's last opera, Turandot (1924), which remained unfinished due to the composer's untimely death, with its comprehensive aesthetics represents the end and the last true peak of the period of the great Italian opera tradition of bel canto. With his last opera work, in which the spirit of ancient China comes to life anew, the composer wanted to discover new musical worlds, which we will be able to listen to in the production of the Maribor Opera. In the story of the cruel Chinese princess Turandot, the solo parts of Turandot, the slaves Liù and, last but not least, one of the most famous tenor arias performed by Prince Calaf stand out Nessun dorma.
