Opel GT Concept: Opel showed the sports car of the future

Opel GT Concept

The Opel GT Concept has graced us with photos of the study of the sports car of the future, which will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March and gives directions for the future. The car without exterior mirrors, door handles and wipers on the windshield is the "child" of the Opel GT models and the Monza concept.

Opel GT Concept is Opel's vision of the future of sports cars. Like its famous predecessor, the GT Concept has a mid-mounted front engine. It drives him 1.0 liter V3 turbo engine, which is based on the 100% aluminum engines also found in the Adam, Astra and Corsa models. It produces 145 hp (107 kW) and 205 Nm of torque. Power with a turbocharger via sequential 6-speed gearbox (it also has wheel-mounted shift levers) is transferred to the rear axle with a mechanical differential lock. Accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in less than eight seconds, but stops accelerating at speed 215 km/h.

The concept Opel GT Concept is characterized by extremely clean lines with invisible transitions between the bodywork and glass parts, and you will look for handles and exterior mirrors on it in vain. It is also unique and patented electronic door opening, which partially go deeper into the fender and enable opening even in tighter places. And speaking of fenders. There are cameras behind the front fenders that deliver the image to screens on both sides of the passenger cabin. The red line and red front tires catch the eye, which are a tribute to the Opel motorcycle Motoclub 500 from 1928.

You could say that the connection with the past is the red thread of the vehicle. They bind him with it dual exhaust pipe in the middle, the name borrowed from the original GT, the lack of a trunk lid, long engine cover … The windshield continues into the panoramic window. Concept vehicle with headlights with built-in indicators that take care of 3D luminosity and the next level of intelligent lighting system Inellix, introduced with the new Astra, weighs less than a ton, which allows it incredible sports characteristics.
