The dance scene, or its open version, is a traditional event that, with the support of the Public Fund for Cultural Activities, brings together young people, especially local creators of movement. This summer we can expect some interesting productions, led by Mladi plesni upi. The evening of June 27 will thus be shaped by seven miniatures or 25 young male and female dancers working in north-eastern Slovenia. The next day, we can see the premiere performance of In Absence/Almost There, created in Plesna izba Maribor. The creators, Matevž Dobaj and Barcons Roca, describe it as a dance exploration of a space where there is no comfort. The fact suggests a slightly more demanding evening, but they move in the space between uncomfortable and non-conformist aesthetically and imaginatively. On this day, Tina Dobaj Eder will also take the stage with the show Virtual reality. The central fascination on June 29 will revolve around the New Age Gypsies, which encourages both positive and negative feelings. The show was designed by choreographer and dancer Gyula Cserepes, a former member of the Central-Europe Dance Theater and En-Knap Group, so we can expect a precise play of dance and music. Together with the dancer Nina Fajdiga and the musician Januš A. Luznar, we will pass through places of (un)freedom and illusion and move between the restrictive present and the ancient past with movement and melody. JSKD will conclude its mission with a street event on July 1. The castle ladies will first lead us into the world of beauty, poetry and fragility in the central square of Maribor, and then convince us that dance can be attractive as a form of street spectacle. Ticket price: 5 euros (Puppet Theatre), admission is free for the Castle Lady performance.
