When a contemporary opera is born in our region, as a result of collaboration between a renowned librettist and composer, it is a reason for a small celebration, and above all for a viewing of the new production. Love Capital is an example of this. It is a synthesis of the libretto and direction of Vinko Möderndorfer and the music of the composer Jani Golob, both of whom are known for a series of successful projects in our country. Despite its modernity, Love Capital maintains a simple concept that was confirmed by many centuries ago, and as such becomes the basis for a modern plot. On stage, we meet two opposing poles: capital, represented by the owner of the factory Gruden, romanticism or. the worker Jernej, and the "apple of discord" Nina. The situation is not hopeless, however, because capital, despite expectations, does not mean absolute, inevitable fate. The conflict between love and capital becomes a synthesis at the end of the opera, because love is the greatest capital of our, at least emotional, life.
