The well-known tragedy Romeo and Juliet is certainly one of the most important love stories of modern Europe, as it juxtaposes the freedom of youthful love ecstasy and the constriction of social pressures. The French master of lyric opera and author of the successful opera Faust, Charles-François Gounod, decided to breathe new life into this classic drama with his meditative and strongly suggestive musical language. The opera, which after a break of more than a century is returning to Slovenian musical stages, will be brought to life in all its splendor and expressiveness, which modern musical theater possesses, under the directorial and choreographic invention of Damir Zlatar Frey and under the musical direction of the young conductor Benjamin Pionnier.
