This beautiful Italian region invites you to change your residential address.

An Italian region that you all know well, Tuscany, is offering people a cash prize if they they move there. Some time ago we reported on a scheme that aims to attract residents back to the mountains. Individual houses are thus available for as little as 3 euros, and now a very attractive option has also opened up in a much more popular region - Tuscans.

Between the picturesque vineyards and medieval towns in Italy, it offers the opportunity to change address. A new immigration scheme has just been launched, inviting people to buy real estate in Tuscany. The buildings here are usually dilapidated and in poor condition, so the regional authorities have decided to encourage people to rebuild. Indeed, many villages are facing population decline, as young people move away to find employment in the cities. In addition to this population crisis, many communities simply do not know how to manage the huge number of abandoned homes.

Residence in Montagna 2024

The Tuscan authorities have thus prepared the "Residenzialità in Montagna 2024" scheme, where they offer you between €10,000 and €30,000 if you buy a house. "The Tuscan mountains are territories of unique beauty with villages that need to be rediscovered, but they suffer from population decline," Stefania Sccardi, regional vice president of Tuscany, told euronews, adding: "The decision to live in one of these municipalities is therefore a challenge and opportunity, especially for young people."

But not everything is as rosy as it sounds. First, the money you receive cannot exceed 50 percent of the cost of the house and its renovation. Where you shop is also very important. Only categorized mountain towns with a maximum of 5,000 inhabitants are considered. Applicants must also be EU citizens or have a residence permit for at least 10 years. They must also be registered as residents of the Italian city, but not the one in which they are buying the property.
