After marsala in 2015, dirty pink ("rose quartz") and powder blue ("serenity") in 2016 and this year's "greenery", Pantone chose ultra violet as the color of 2018. The color is described as imaginative, and color experts believe that the color communicates "uniqueness, genius and visionary thinking that guides us into the future".
"We live in a time that requires ingenuity and imagination," she said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Color Institute Pantone. According to her, the color should have a Pantone label 18-3838, therefore ultraviolet, took care of creative inspiration.
Violet, which has its foundations in blue, is supposed to carry our consciousness and potential to a higher level. "From new technologies, the galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive ultraviolet light shows the way to the future," adds Leatrice.
The annual announcement of the color of the year provides guidelines for, among other things trends in the world of design and fashion. “Pantone color is much more than just a trend in the world of design. It is a true reflection of what is most needed in the world today," they add in the press release.
