To mark the 30th anniversary of the birth of the 205 GTI model, Peugeot has prepared a special version of the current 208 GTi, which it premiered at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. It is an even more radical version of the 208 GTI model, whose 1.6-liter THP turbo gasoline engine has gained in power and now develops 153 kW.
That means it is power increased from 200 to 208 hp. Even more important than the increase in engine power is the fact that from of the RCZ R model inherited Torsen differential lock, which gives it even more sharpness and speed when driving through turns. At the same time, they added za 10 mm lower suspension and wider track (22 mm at the front and 16 mm at the rear axle) compared to the standard 208 GTi, as well as a slightly more direct steering wheel and an even sportier tuned chassis.
Speed up to the first hundred takes 6.5 seconds, despite that, on average, it only releases into the atmosphere 125 grams emissions CO2. You will recognize the jubilee 208 GTi on the outside by its special appearance matte two-tone bodywork, first seen on last year's 308 R concept study, the standard 18-inch black matte wheels are also covered in the same color motif, as are many details on the body. The rear, on the other hand, is dressed in a contrasting bright red color, on which the slightly larger rear spoiler and accentuated twin exhaust pipes stand out even more.
Peugeot adds that in addition to the two-tone combination, the jubilee 208 GTi will also be offered in pearl white and flashy red, the colors characteristic of the original 205 GTi. The sale ends in November this year, prices will be announced at the Paris show, a month before.
