A few months ago, Porsche presented a Speedster prototype that stuck in our memory and that we wished would become a reality. We didn't hope in vain, because in Stuttgart they decided that the Porsche 911 Speedster would really experience serial production.
Porsche will make only 1,948 copies Porsche 911 Speedster, and the quantity is linked to the year 1948, when it's the first Porsche 356 got the green light to drive on road. Confirming the good news, they presented more another a concept version of the Speedster that wears classic red color as worn by the 911 Speedster from 1988. In addition to the red color, the presented Speedster has a different, 21-inch rims with a central nut that remind us of those from the Porsche 911 RSR and GT3. There is also a noticeable difference in daily lights, which are dimmed and partially colored in red to better match the bodywork.
We were already impressed with the previous concept side ones mirrors, but this time they are almost even better. They were surrounded by black chrome and platinum, as they also did with the fuel tank cover, which is in the middle of the 'engine' cover. For greater contrast, the latest concept has a black interior, complemented by red stitching.
Apart from a few visual changes, the two concepts are practically identical and are based on the current one Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet. They borrowed the chassis from the even sportier 911 GT3 and added the bodywork from carbonaceous fiber, to keep the weight as low as possible. The exhaust system is out of control GT-department, 6-speed manual transmission and 6-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with more than 500 horses powers and they also have all the characteristics of the GT department. The Porsche 911 Speedster will begin production in the future year.
