When does the clock change in 2025?

In 2025, we will move the clocks forward twice, as long-standing practice dictates:

  • Daylight saving time: Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 2:00 a.m., we will move the clocks forward one hour, to 3:00 a.m. This means we will lose one hour of sleep, but the evenings will be longer.
  • Transition to winter time: Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 3:00 a.m. we will set the clocks back one hour, to 2:00 a.m. At that time, we will gain an hour of sleep, but the days will be shorter.

Why are the clocks still changing?

The clock change originated from a desire to make better use of daylight, especially in the summer months. The intention was to reduce energy consumption, but modern research shows that these savings are minimal. Nevertheless, clocks are still changed in most European Union countries.

The European Union proposed abolishing seasonal clock changes in 2018, but member states failed to agree on a uniform time. As a result, we will continue to change clocks until at least 2026.

Do all countries change their clocks?

No. Although more than 70 countries around the world still change their clocks, a few countries have already abolished the practice. These include:

Russia, Turkey and Belarus, which have opted for permanent daylight saving time.
Iceland, which, due to its location, does not need to change its clocks.
In the European Union, most countries still follow seasonal clock changes, including Slovenia.

To make the change easier to endure, try:

  • Customize your sleep rhythm a few days ago.

  • Take advantage of natural daylight to better adjust your body clock.

Will clock change be abolished soon?

Although many want to abolish it, the clocks in the European Union will continue to be changed twice a year until further notice. Until the member states come to an agreement, we will remain with the current arrangement.
