THE REM PROJECT: THE PURE ENERGY OF MUSIC
The new musical project of the American Embassy in Slovenia will pay tribute to the band REM and environmental issues
The US Embassy in Slovenia, which successfully implemented a music project last year Bob Dylan: Become a Volunteer this year will pay tribute to the group REM, which broke up last year, and which has been creating music for as many as thirty years. The REM project: The pure energy of music will feature 18 musicians and bands, this time with their versions of REM songs. The project is aimed at raising awareness of environmental protection and presents the activities of some Slovenian environmental protection groups and non-governmental organizations.
The release of the CD will be accompanied by a free concert, which will take place on September 8 this year, at 6:00 p.m., on Kongresni trg in Ljubljana.
At the concert, some of the best musicians will present themselves with their REM performances: Siddharta, Elvis Jackson, N'toko, Vlado Kreslin with the Croatian band The Bambi Molesters, Severa Gjurin, Murat & Jose, Boštjan Narat, Lollobrigida, My Buddy Moose with Chris Eckman, Polona Kasal, The Toronto Drug Bust and The Tide. The songs chosen by the musicians range from the early 1980s to those from their latest album.
