Bridgestone Air Free puncture-resistant bicycle tire - goodbye, pedals!

Bridgestone Air Free

Bridgestone rocked the rubber scene in 2011 when it introduced the Air Free tire, which it has now prepared for bicycles. It is rubber that cannot be punctured and you do not need a presser for it. The innovative design also reduces rolling resistance.

Bridgestone is its own revolutionary rubber Air Free also prepared for the bike. Its advantage is, among other things, that negates the possibility of puncture. They form a self-supporting structure spokes made of polypropylene (thermoplastic resin). The tire is otherwise fully manufactured from recycled materials.

In classic tires filled with air, most of the energy losses occur when the shape of the tire changes. Bridgestone Air Free reduces energy loss with its structure due to rolling resistance, because there aren't that many deformations. They should be available for commercial use in 2019, and cyclists could already compete on them at the upcoming Summer Olympics, which will be held in Tokyo in 2020, which is also the home of Bridgeston.
