In October 2020, a new E1 competition was announced, in which electric speedboats play a major role. The Union Internationale Motonautique were among the first to introduce their version of a competitive electric boat.
Sophie Horne, a key member of SeaBird Technologies and Victory Marine CEO Brunello Acampora have combined their years of experience and the result of their work is RaceBird, an electric super speedboat. The inspiration for the shape of the vessel came from birds that fly at high speed above the sea level. Like birds, the speedboat will also ″fly″ over the water, with the help of the so-called ″Hydrofoil″. It will reach speeds of up to 50 knots, or worse 93 km/h.
The aerodynamic, futuristic single-seat rocket has an exterior made of carbon fiber, a closed cabin and an internal electric motor. At the moment, RaceBird is still in the development phase, but we can expect more by the year 2023, when the electric speedboat competition will officially begin.
