Verdi's last opera, based on one of Shakespeare's most famous comic characters, is coming to the big screen. City Magazine and Cineplexx cinemas are giving away 2 tickets to see the opera Falstaff.
The live broadcast and the best experience of the New York Metropolitan Opera will be in Saturday, December 14, at 7 p.m in Cineplexx cinemas across Slovenia (Kranj, Celje, Maribor, Koper and Novo mesto).
Falstaff is the operatic work of the great by Giuseppe Verdi, and the libretto for it, largely based on Shakespeare's famous comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor, was written by Arrigo Boito. The story is about Sir John Falstaff, a knight who, hoping to improve his property and financial situation, cunningly seduces as many as two married ladies. Of course, his scheming is doomed from the start, but knowing that he wasn't the only one deceived, Falstaff concludes that the whole world is a single joke, and that's right. The world of Verdi's opera is exciting precisely because of the deceptions and intrigues that are as everyday to the heroes as they will never be to us.
