You will surely use the strawberry season for various desserts and cakes, but why not try a strawberry gin and tonic? Gin and tonic lovers are sure to enjoy this refreshing summer version of their favorite drink.
Ingridients:
- 60 ml of cold strawberry syrup
- 60 ml of gin
- 100 ml of tonic
- 1 small spoonful of lime juice
- mint leaves or thyme sprigs for garnish
- ice
Ingredients for strawberry syrup:
- 1 kg of ripe strawberries
- 500 ml of water - 20 dag of sugar - 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 100 ml of water
Preparation of the syrup:
Remove the stalks from the strawberries, wash them, cut them in half and put them in a cooking pot. Add water and sugar and cook over medium heat. When the water boils, reduce the temperature a little and let everything simmer for 20 minutes, then remove from the stove and let it cool completely.
Take a colander, cover it with a layer of thin cheesecloth and place it on a wider bowl. Strain the strawberries and syrup through this, then take the cheesecloth, collect the strawberries and gently twist the cheesecloth to squeeze out some more of the strawberry syrup. Stir in the lemon juice and then pour the syrup into the glass. Store it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Preparation of strawberry gin and tonic:
Fill the glass halfway with ice. Then pour over it with strawberry syrup, gin and finally pour tonic. Add a little lime juice and garnish with mint or thyme if desired.
Cheers!
