Ferrero Rocher balls with glaze
Ingredients
- For the balls:
- 200 g wafers with hazelnuts
- 300 g of roasted hazelnuts (coarsely ground)
- 400 g Nutella (or other chocolate spread) For the glaze:
- 300 g of dark chocolate
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 100 g of coarsely ground hazelnuts
Directions
- Preparation of the mass for the balls: Crush the wafers with your hands into small pieces (do not grind them completely to keep them crunchy). Roughly chop or grind the roasted hazelnuts, but not too finely. Mix the crushed wafers, hazelnuts and Nutella in a bowl. Mix until you get a compact mass.
- Form the balls: Form the mixture into walnut-sized balls. If desired, you can insert a whole hazelnut into each ball for extra crunch. Refrigerate the balls for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Preparation of the glaze: Melt the dark chocolate with oil over a water bath or in the microwave. Add coarsely ground hazelnuts to the melted chocolate and mix.
- Topping the balls: Dip each ball in the chocolate glaze to cover it evenly. Help yourself with a fork or spoon. Place the balls on baking paper to harden the chocolate.
- Chill and serve: Place the balls in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the frosting to harden completely. Serve them chilled and enjoy the homemade version of the popular Ferrero Rocher balls!
Tip: If you want an extra shine to the glaze, you can add a teaspoon of coconut oil to the chocolate. Store the balls in the refrigerator, where they will stay fresh for several days (if you don't eat them first!).
