Recipe: Sparkling Eggnog, this must-have winter companion

Egg liqueur - recipe

Eggnog is a mandatory companion of winter. Why? Because it warms you, because it is sweet, because it fills you up and because it smells intoxicating. It is a delicious alcoholic drink from our grandmothers' cookbooks and a drink that is a trademark of huts on Italian ski resorts. And just as good, foamy and fragrant egg liqueur you can mix yourself at home; here is the recipe!

Egg liqueur (also known as bombardino) is a popular alcoholic drink without which there is no real winter, just as there is no winter without it mulled wine and chestnuts. It is popular at Christmas, for the New Year and when we take a break while skiing in a cabin.

Winter is coming and nothing is a better answer to the cold and snow than a really warm and soft eggnog. It's easy independent drink or use it instead of cream in coffee.

Recipe for foamy eggnog

Ingredients for foamy egg liqueur:

  • 1/2 liter of milk
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 5 spoons of sugar
  • 1 dcl of sweet cream
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • 1.5 dcl cognac or vinjak (or any other brandy)
  • 1 nutmeg
  • chocolate powder (for sprinkling)
  • cinnamon

Preparation of foamy egg liqueur
With a mixer egg yolk and sugar mix until a light foamy mixture forms. Combine in another bowl sweet cream, milk and something shredded nutmeg and heat everything slowly, then remove from the fire/induction plate. Slowly pour the heated milk into the frothy egg mixture, while at the same time using the mixer to mix the mixture on low speed. Then put it back on the fire and heat it up up to 80 degrees Celsius (never let it boil!). While heating, stir the mixture constantly, everything until it starts to thicken. This is also a sign to remove it from the heat and stir in the brandy. Voilà!

You can also serve the foamy egg liqueur warm or cold and additionally decorate it with whipped cream, cinnamon, chocolate powder or grated nutmeg. We recommend putting glasses on the bottom some pieces of fruit, as the combination with it is simply perfect. For children's version of eggnog, just omit the alcohol at the end. The kids will be absolutely thrilled to be able to enjoy the same drink as you!
